Photoshop CS3/CS4 Manuals?

I know Photoshop has a default manual thing that comes with the installation package but is that good enough for me to learn everything about photoshop, such as layers filters and whatnot?

The manuals are hard to use, I’ve found. There are really no major user manuals for these programs that are downloadable. What you want to do is a couple of things. One is to consider taking a class or workshop to give you the basics in Photoshop. A lot of community colleges offer such classes, and generally they aren’t very expensive. I would also check local computer stores, they may also offer workshops.

The other thing to do is to get a couple of books. I would get the Photoshop for Dummies if you really are just starting out, or the Adobe Classroom in a Book, or the Photoshop Visual Quickstart Guide. In the long run it will be less expensive to actually buy these books than to try to find a pdf, which if you were to print out on your own would probably cost more than buying a well-written book. Personally I like the Visual Quickstart Guide books. Another possible book to look for (and there are videos available too) is the Deke McClelland One-on-One book. Also check out the free video podcasts that are available for Photoshop. One of my favorites is from Bert Monroy, who really is a Master Photoshop Artist.
